World War II fashion was as conservative as possible so that extra material could be used to support the men at war. Dresses were made with a minimum of “extravagances”.
Artfully cut material or small accents such as a pretty hair ribbon were often the highlights of an outfit. As rationing prevented the buying of clothes for every season, girls often wore the same dresses year round. Therefore, garments had to be long lasting and appropriate for all occasions.
Featuring a regulation WWII sweep (skirt width), banded puffed sleeves and a peter pan collar, this dress can be dressed up or down and made suitable for any season.
