With Limitation order #L-85 in full force, World War II fashion became as conservative as possible. Dresses were made with a minimum of “extravagances” so artfully cut material was often the highlight of an outfit. Based on an original 1940′s illustration, this dress is is classic example of a #L-85 silhouette that still manages to be stylish.
The bias cut bodice meets a conservative circle skirt at the basque waist. The circle skirt creates a full look without using a lot of fabric and was drafted with to meet WWII sweep (skirt width) restrictions. Puffed sleeves, an edge stitched collar and a faux button tab complete the look
