On April 8, 1942 the WPB issued Limitation order #L-85 putting the famous WWII clothing restrictions into place. All designers had to work within these guidelines or they were severely fined.
- Sweeps (hem circumference) could not exceed 72″
- Hems could not be deeper than 2″
- Only one pocket per blouse was allowed
- No patch pockets on coats or jackets
- No cuffs or pleats on pants
- No vests for suits
- No bias cut sleeves
This dress featuring a princess seamed skirt, simple sweetheart neckline, sweetheart puffed sleeves and an empire waist is classic example of a #L-85 silhouette that still manages to be stylish.

1940's

This was my first experience with a BunnyBear pattern and it was delightful! I sew for 18-19″ Gotz, Ann Estelle, and Linda Rick all vinyl dolls and the dress looks adorable.
